台灣人口稠密、工商及通活動密集、加上住商混和之居住型態、傳統之民俗(拜拜)及烹調習慣,在在造成台灣民眾生活周遭之污染源之複雜度遠高於西方國家,而民眾暴露到多少污染物濃度,也取決於民眾的生活型態與活動特性,目前台灣並無具代表性的相關資料。在全球增溫下,民眾活動時間亦可能產生變動,為了了解目前及推估不同溫度下民眾活動時間的變動,亟需建立依據代表性的民眾活動時間資料庫。空氣污染暴露之民眾活動時間型態調查,主要包括一系列有關民眾在何時、何種微環境、從事何種活動、以及是否暴露到與此活動有關之空氣污染物暴露源的資訊,如此可得到民眾接觸到不同污染源的頻率及時間長短。若配合大器化學模式所得出之各微環境中污染物的濃度及溫度資料,即可推估不同溫到下民眾接觸污染物的總暴露量,有助於評估空氣污染物對人體造成的影響。

The characteristics of Taiwanese living environments with high population densities, high traffic volumes, mixed communities(with a mixture of homes, shops,restaurants, temples, and home industries),distinctive cooking methods and religious practices(incense-burning) provides many more sources of pollutants and results in higher intra-urban variability in pollutant levels compared to those in western countries.The pollutant exposure levels of individuals depend on their life styles and time-activity patterns, which may change under global warming.Currently, there is no representative data base regarding the air pollution exposure related time-activity patterns in Taiwan. Thus, we proposed a comprehensive survey for time-activity patterns related to air pollutant exposure; the objective is to construct a representative pollution-related time-activity database of Taiwan population in order to access current situations and project future possible changes. Air pollutant related time-activity includes a description of activities, frequency of such activities, time spent performing the activities, the micro-environment in which the activities occurred, and whether exposure occurred while performing these activities. The Time-activity pattern is crucial to population air-pollutant exposure assessment since the duration of contacting various exposure sources directly affect the magnitude of air pollutant exposures in different micro-environments. Combined with pollutant and temperature levels obtained from atmospheric chemistry models, we will be able to access population pollutant exposure under different temperature levels.
