親 職教育的推廣,常提出提高父母效能感的概念。然而,高教養效能感的父母,是否就會採行有益於孩子發展的教養行為,並對孩子有正向的影響,卻十分值得質疑, 並缺乏本土的研究加以探討。因此,本研究藉由檢驗父母的教養效能感、管教行為,及孩子生活適應三者之間的相互關係,分析影響父母修正教養行為的可能阻礙因 素,以期對台灣社會的親職教育提出建言。 本研究的對象為台北縣市地區就讀國民小學五、六年級的兒童及其父親、母親,有效樣本為655個家庭。研究結果發現,教養效能感、教養行為及孩子的生活適應 形成相互影響、彼此回饋的歷程。教養效能感會驅動民主的教養,減少對於孩子專制權威及忽視冷漠的行為,而父母的效能感,及其引發的教養行為,皆對孩子的生 活適應有正向影響。同時,孩子的生活適應及其父母教養方式的施行,又會反饋影響其為人父母的效能感。 不過,對於父親而言,效能感雖不會驅動、但也不會抑制權威教養的施行,權威教養之於父親,應該有其它更有力的影響因素。同時,值得注意的是,權威教養會阻 礙父母對於孩子生活適應的知覺。因此,親職教育工作者除了致力提昇父母效能感外,也要注意其它相關影響因素的配合。

Parental efficacy means parents’ competence in their parenting ability, and beliefs in influencing their children’s development. While parental efficacy belief is promoted, and viewed as a positive concept, if parents with higher parental efficacy beliefs tend to practice positive parenting behavior, thus leads to positive child outcome, is still questionable, and requires further research in Taiwan. Moreover, if parents can accurately evaluate their parenting “outcome”—child adjustment, then acknowledge and change their possible negative parenting practices, requires further studies, too.

655 5th and 6th graders and their parents participated in this study. It was found that parental efficacy, parenting behavior and child adjustment were related to each other. Parents with higher parental efficacy were more likely to practiced authoritative parenting, less likely to be restrictive or to neglect their children. Parental efficacy and the parenting practices related to it both had positive effects on child adjustment. On the other hand, degree of child adjustment and the parenting practices that parents used would form a feedback loop affecting parental efficacy.

This study also found that, however, fathers’ parental efficacy won’t promote, but won’t inhibit their use of authoritarian parenting strategies, either. For fathers, there were more important factors related to their use of authoritarian parenting. Moreover, authoritarian parenting would block parents’ sensitiveness of children’s problems, which might prevent the parents from changing their parenting behavior. It was suggested that, in addition to raising parents’ parental efficacy, other factors should also be noted to ensure the quality of their parentin practices.
