促進學童的社會適應是學校教育的重要目標。國內外的研究資料顯示,學童的社會適應容易受到同儕友伴關係的影響,友伴關係不佳的學童所遭遇的社會適應問題也較多。相關文獻指出:兒童的友誼概念隨著年齡增長而發展。然而,現有的文獻並未探討我國學童友誼概念與社會適應的關係。為求填補此一知識差距,本研究兼採質性研究與量化研究方法,以蒐集相互參證的資料,藉供比較分析。本研究發現:我國國小學童的友誼概念隨著發展階段而有不同的內涵。依低、中、高年段的發展順序,我國國小學童友誼概念的內涵依次為:儀容外表、楷模、玩伴、單向協助、人格特質及知音分享。其次,本研究發現:社會適應良好與社會適應困難的學童,可以藉由他們在同儕吸引、同儕排斥、同理支持等社會特質上的差異而予以鑑定。再者,我國國小學童在友誼概念的不同內涵上,均與其社會適應有著明確而顯著的相關。因此,協助學童發展適當的友誼概念,當有助於學童社會適應能力的改善。根據研究結果,本研究針對國小學童友誼概念的發展與社會適應能力的提升,進行討論,並提供改進建議。

To foster children's social adjustment is fundamental to the goals of schooling. A review of the literature indicates that children's peer relationship appears to be very critical to their social adjustment in elementary schools. Additional studies suggest that children's constructs of friendship seem to evolve along with the discernible stages of development. However, the relationship of children's constructs of friendships to their social adjustment in elementary schools remains nebulous. To fill the knowledge gap, this study chose to employ both qualitative and quantitative methods to collect data for analysis. The findings of the study indicate that children's constructs of friendship appear to be different in the developmental order: ranging from physical appearance, playmates, role models, beneficiary of favors, personality traits to reciprocity. The study also reveals that children with advantages or disadvantages in social adjustment may be distinguished in terms of their qualities in peer attraction, peer rejection and social empathy. Moreover, the relationship of children's constructs of friendships to their social adjustment appears to be strong and significant in all dimensions. Based on such findings, implications of the study are discussed and recommendations thus proposed.
