本研究主要探討台灣省公、私立國民中、小學校長對於家長參與學校活動與校務這項理念的態度。利用調查研究法,本研究以分層隨機抽樣的方式,抽取430所公立 國民小學,以及122所公立國民中學,另外選取10所私立小學,及65所私立國中(含私立高中高職附設國中部),合計627所中小學校長為本研究的樣本。 以自編問卷「國民中小學家長參與學校教育意見調查表」進行問卷調查。截至87年7月初止,共回收問卷385份,剔除特殊的無效問卷2份,共有383份有效 問卷,佔發出問卷的61.08%。經與母群體分析比較發現,本研究有效樣本具有某種程度的代表性,因此所獲得的結果可以適度推論至台灣省公私立國民中小學 的情境。 根據調查結果,本研究發現,就整體而言,台灣省公私立國民中小學校長傾向於在態度上贊成家長參與學校活動與校務。但就個別層面而言,就有不同程度的支持態 度。校長們比較支持傳統式的家長參與;但對於「家長參與作決定」與「協助教學研究」等類型,校長在態度上就降至「贊成」與「不贊成」之間。另外本研究發 現,校長對於家長參與的態度受到學校環境變項的影響力比較大,而較不受校長個人背景變項的影響。

The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes of Junior High and Elementary principals toward parent involvement in schools in Taiwan. Utilizing the method of surveying, 627 Junior High and Elementary principals in the Province of Taiwan (N=3,018) were sampled by the method of stratified random sampling. They were asked to provide their opinions about parent involvement. Data of 383 useful questionnaires, which made up 61.08% of the sample, were used to analyze the attitudes of the principals. Based on the findings of data analyses, this study found out that in general, Junior High and Elementary principals tended to support parent involvement. However, in terms of different types of parent involvement, principals\' attitudes were variable. They tended to support traditional types of parent involvement, and tended not to support more radical forms of parent involvement. The study also found out that some of the environmental variables influenced more upon the attitudes of principals toward parent involvement than principal\'s personal characteristics did.
