本 文研究者經由以往研究訪談的結果,推論傳統父母職責的社會認知基模影響了兩性的家務育兒分工與生涯發展。台灣地區傳統男性工作者父職認知的養家責任使他們 過度投入工作,以至於與家庭疏離。部份年輕世代雖然在行為上已表現出與傳統父母職不同的行為,但是在認知上,許多雙生涯工作者在評估自我在父母職表現上是 否稱職時,仍會以他們對傳統父母職的認知作為評估標準,而認知評估結果造成兩性對育兒與生涯發展的衝突產生不同的情緒反應和角色壓力,兩性可能因而對生涯 發展建立不同的模式。本研究的目的在瞭解影響平權參與型父職的因素,以促進新父職教育與兩性和諧發展。

Paternal involvement in day-to-day care for children and house chores is a new trend for many societies. The present study is intend to find out factors influencing the formation of new fatherhood. The present study interviewed nine highly child-rearing involved fathers and their mothers. We found out that their parenthood beliefs was influenced by their own parents' parenthood, either positively or negatively. Factors that may influencing the practices of participatory fatherhood including father's strong commitment on family and concern about their children's development, beliefs about the impact of family harmony as well as participatory fatherhood on children's development, the interaction effects between sex-role beliefs and career pattern, and spouse's support to participatory or traditional fatherhood all had strong career commitment, but they developed career plan. Traditional father had an individual oriented career plan. I had conducted a survey on college students to investigate the relationships between beliefs of fatherhood and motherhood, sex-role beliefs and work values. Canonical correlation analysis revealed that equal right oriented male students hold more participatory fatherhood beliefs, less emphasized on extrinsic reward work value, and more emphasized on intrinsic reward work values than non equal right oriented students. Traditional sex role oriented male students hold more traditional father roles and more emphasized on extrinsic work values than non-traditional male students.
