Place bonding/attachment has received attention from the area of landscape and recreation for recent decades. However, we still only have limited understanding about how bonding forms, changes, and influence how we perceive environment changes. Many studies suggested that people who involve in certain activity will connect to the place eventually. Besides, people with different focuses (place/activity) might have different reactions toward a place when its certain function disappeared. Existing literature have shown that place bonding will influence how people perceive environmental impact. The theory of place bonding cannot be fully understood with solving these theoretical contradictions. Independent studies will be conducted for the purpose of the study. We will use panel study to compare people’s bonding, activity participation, and coping strategies before and after the parks fully and partial closed. The current study will document how place bonding can contribute to the field of landscape and recreation. Results will also provide evidence for the potential to use place bonding. The study will also contributes to our understanding and assist with environment planning and management.
