本計畫旨在建立完整和全面性的台灣高等教育資訊系統,並在2004年間完成民國91學年度畢業生、92學年度大一新生、大三生與二技學生資料調查;2005年間完成93學年度全國大專院校專任教師資訊調查。

本資料檔案為針對94學年度二技一年級學生進行調查,問卷題型設計延續92學年度對全國二技學生調查問卷為基礎,分為二技入學歷程、課業修習狀況、經費來源與支出、生活作息、未來規劃、對學校的看法,以及對自己的看法與評估等方面。

本次調查研究母體為全國94學年度二技一年級學生,採普查方式收集資料,於2006年3月至5月間,調查方式以網路問卷方式為主,並提供無法或不便使用網路的學生紙本問卷進行調查。最終完成調查樣本數為15,764,問卷回收率為60.9%。

The primary purpose of this project is to develop a comprehensive higher education data system in Taiwan. Upon completion, this system will provide various kinds of data, ranging from institutional characteristics, staffing, facilities, curriculum offerings, to student demographic backgrounds, qualifications, attitudes, participation in school activities, classroom experience, performance, degree completion, and development after graduation. These data will become valuable resources for research and evaluation studies to address a variety of issues relating to, for example, the efficiency of educational practices, the quality of instruction, and the learning and other development of students. The resulting databases, together with derived statistics and study reports, will be posted at a specially designed Website for the general public as well as researchers and policy-makers to optimize the value of the data system. This project is a three-year project. We completed seven national student and teacher databases, which are valuable resources. Not only many scholars make use of these databases for research but we also continue disseminating these databases in order to allow more people to gain deeper understanding of Taiwan higher education. The first year’s work focuses on the following tasks: a) developing working relationship with various offices of the Ministry of Education; b) communicating to universities and colleges the justification for this project and soliciting their cooperation; c) setting up the computer and network system for data collection and dissemination, and d) designing and implementing surveys of three student cohorts – freshmen, juniors, and the previous years’ college graduates. The second year’s work focuses on the following tasks: a) designing and implementing surveys of the previous year’s college graduates; b) analyzing data for the freshmen and juniors surveys; c )initial analysis of graduates survey data; d) designing and implementing faculty survey; e) holding a conference for the first stage of our research outcomes. f) updating the freshmen and juniors cohort email addresses, preparing for the first follow-up survey of these two samples of students; g) training seminars. The third year’s main tasks are as follows: a) designing and implementing freshmen survey (94 academic year); b) designing and implementing 94 academic year survey of juniors (92 academic year freshmen); c) conducting survey of the freshmen of two-year institutes of technology; d) designing and implementing survey of 93 academic year graduates (92 academic year juniors); e) analyzing data for the freshmen, juniors and faculty surveys; f) to hold two workshops about the contents and instructions of the databases; i) electronic report.
